In the presence of BNP and Jamaat leaders, National Citizens Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary said the 13th national election cannot be held in February next year without reforms.
Speaking at an event organised at the Krishibid Institution in the capital's Farmgate on Tuesday to mark International Youth Day, he said, "If the election is held in February, this government must return the bodies from the graves of those who gave their blood and were martyred for reforms."
He said without reforms, there could be no elections in February.
"We are going to polls under the same culture, under the same fascist constitution, through the same system. So was it necessary for so many people to be martyred? Was it necessary for so many people to be injured?"
Criticising the DGFI and Aynaghar, Nasiruddin said, "An intelligence agency in Bangladesh – the DGFI – operates on our money. The people of Bangladesh do not know how much money they spend. They have no sense of responsibility, no accountability, no transparency."
He said if Bangladesh must have a DGFI, it has to be reformed.
