This policy describes what personal information (also known as personal data) Dhaka Stream collects, how the information is used and your rights to your information.

Dhaka Stream is an independent news-media platform, functioning in both online and multimedia versions, with a print version coming soon. It is located on Level-4, Samarai Convention Centre 23/G/7, Panthapath, Dhaka-1205.

How we collect information

The types of information we collect depends on the circumstances and the service you are using.

When you use our services, register for a Dhaka Stream account , submit comments or other content, attend one of our events or you otherwise interact with us (such as through social media platforms, our apps or engaging with our sales teams, responding to surveys), we will ask you for information relevant to the circumstances.

The data collected is mainly used for our content design purposes, with each of our reports tailored towards user preference.

  • To facilitate conversation, engage with our audiences and enrich our content
  • We may use the information you provide, or your social media handle, to contact you if we want to find out more, to ask if we can use or share your content or to verify your age.
  • Before we can accept or use your content, you must ensure you have the consent of anyone else featured. We may ask you to provide your email address to verify your age and that you are the legal parent or guardian of any children who may be featured in the content.

DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION AND OTHER INFORMATION

Dhaka Stream shares your Information with any third party without obtaining the prior consent of the User in the following limited circumstances:

(a) Information shared with Sponsors

Dhaka Stream is not responsible for the Information that you or others choose to disclose publicly on the Website, and neither the Company's nor others' use of such Information is subject to this Privacy Policy.

Dhaka Stream may use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit or use the Website or Services. These companies may use Information (not including your name, address, email address, or telephone number) about your visits or use of websites, mobile applications, or services, in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

Once you leave our servers (you can tell where you are by checking the URL in the location bar on your browser), use of any information you provide is governed by the privacy policy of the operator of the website/app/service you are visiting.

The collection, further use, and/or disclosure of your Information by Third-Party Providers or by other third parties is not the responsibility of the Dhaka Stream.

Furthermore, any personally identifiable information provided by you will not be considered as sensitive if it is freely available and/or accessible in the public domain like any comments, messages, blogs, scribbles available on social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, etc.

The above exceptions are not exhaustive and will include exceptions available in law as well as otherwise.

SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Any personal information you provide to Dhaka Stream is kept on secure servers with limited access.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, personnel, and physical measures (a) to safeguard personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized use or access, disclosure, or modification; and (b) to ensure the integrity of the personal information.

We limit access to your personal information to those who have a genuine business need to do so.

We also have procedures in place to deal with any suspected data security breach. We will notify you and any applicable regulator of a suspected data security breach where we are legally required to do so.

However, all security systems have some vulnerabilities and as such lack of interceptions cannot be guaranteed.

If you follow a link to our partner website, which may appear on the Dhaka Stream site from time to time, we do not accept liability or responsibility for their terms of use. We recommend users to check the policies before you submit any personal information to these websites.

Remember that even after you cancel your account, copies of some Information from your account may remain viewable in some circumstances. 

5. TRANSFER OF PERSONAL INFORMATION TO OTHER COUNTRIES

Your information mentioned in this Privacy Policy will not be shared with any company which is registered in another country.
