Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus declared on Monday that Bangladesh is now stable enough and ready for the national election scheduled for the first half of February next year.
Yunus made the statement during his address at the international conference on the Rohingya crisis, emphasising the country's progress since the turbulent events of the July Uprising in 2024.
After reflecting on last year's political changeover, Yunus said it was time for another transition.
"Now, we are ready for another transition in our political history. We have announced the timeframe for the election. It was just about a year back when we had the uprising, and the country has become stable enough and ready for the election."
The three-day conference is being held in Cox's Bazar, aimed at engaging global stakeholders in finding long-term solutions to the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis.
