A new international film award called the "July Memorial Prize" will be launched at the world-renowned film festival Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) held in Busan, South Korea.
The award will be presented for the first time at the 30th anniversary of the Busan International Film Festival to be held between 19-25 September, a press release from the Ministry of Cultural Affairs says.
Under the patronage of the ministry, one film from the competing films in the "Vision Asia" section of the Busan Film Festival will be awarded the July Memorial Prize.
The award will be given to a film on the themes of social justice, freedom of speech and expression, civil rights or the fight against inequality, the release added.
It will be presented to the winning director on the closing day of this year's festival.
This award was introduced to commemorate the July Uprising.
