The Election Commission (EC) has sought field investigation reports of 22 new political parties, including the National Citizen Party (NCP), which cleared the commission's primary selection, by 31 August on the occasion of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
On Monday, EC Senior Assistant Secretary Mohammad Delwar Hossain sent instructions in this regard.
As per the instructions, the Senior District Election Officer, the District Election Officer or the Additional District Election Officer at the district level will verify the documents of the concerned political party and fill in the prescribed checklist.
All the documents should be properly sealed with page numbers and sent to the Regional Election Officer in a special envelope.
Later, the Regional Election Officers will collect the envelopes on a political party basis and send them confidentially to the EC Secretariat.
Upazila election officers will conduct investigation activities at the upazila level in the same manner.
They will also send the verified information and documents to the district level in a sealed envelope. The district election officials will collect the envelopes received from the upazilas on a political party basis and send them to the EC secretariat in sealed envelopes.
EC officials said that after receiving the field investigation report, the commission will review it and complete the registration process of the new political party.
The 22 political parties that cleared the preliminary selection are- Forward Party, Aam Janata Dal, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Party (BGP), Bangladesh Sanskarbadi Party (BRP), Bangladesh Nejame Islam Party, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), Moulik Bangla, Bangladesh Justice and Development Party, Jatiya Janata Party, Janatar Dal, Janata Party Bangladesh, Bangladesh Aam Janagan Party, National Citizen Party (NCP), Bangladesh Jatiya League, Bhashani Janashakti Party, Bangladesh Bekar Mukti Parishad, Bangladesh Communist Party (Marxist)-CPB (M), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Shahjahan Siraj), Jamiat Ulama-e Islam and Nejame Islam Party, Bangladesh Bekar Samaj (BABES), Bangladesh Solution Party and Notun Bangladesh Party.
