BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep concern over the attack on an NCP event in Gopalganj.
"After the student-people uprising, the fallen Awami League regime's miscreants have once again become active in order to create an unstable situation in the country, seeking to exploit chaos for their benefit. Today's barbaric attack on the NCP's programme in Gopalganj, crude bomb explosions, arson attack on vehicles of the UNO and law enforcement, and the assault on police personnel are all clear manifestations of that conspiracy," reads a statement.
Amid a severe deterioration of law and order, the AL is now striking with a desperate force, aiming to embarrass the interim government and create anarchy.
"There is no alternative but to deal with these miscreants with a firm hand. To restore democracy and the people's right to vote, and to prevent the resurgence of fascism in the country, people from all walks of life, regardless of their party or ideology, must unite to protect the lives and property of the citizens. Otherwise, the country's independence and sovereignty will once again face a grave threat."
The BNP secretary general urged the authorities to immediately arrest the suspects and called for exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
