Boycotting the JUCSU election, the Jahangirnagar University unit of Chhatra Dal brought out a procession in protest at the campus.
Around 9:00pm on Thursday, the JUCSU-nominated candidates and activists of the university's Chhatra Dal unit brought out a procession from Murad Chattar. The procession ended at Chourangi Mor.
Afterwards, Chhatra Dal activists said that the JUCSU election must be canceled, a new election commission must be formed, and the election must be held again.
Earlier, various panels had declared boycotts.
Following the Chhatra Dal, the Songsoptok Parshad panel—formed by factions of Chhatra Front and Chhatra Union— also withdrew from the election, citing widespread irregularities.
Candidates from four progressive panels — 'Sampritir Oikya', 'Sanshptak Parshad', 'Swatantr Angikar Parishad' and a partial panel of the Samajtantrik Chhatra Front — also demanded a fresh election alleging various irregularities.
Several independent candidates also announced boycotts.
Three BNP-affiliated teachers also resigned from their election duties, citing allegations of vote rigging.
