The Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolon will bring out a protest march from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram centring Friday night's attack on Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur following a clash with law enforcers and alleged Jatiya Party activists.
Jamaat's protest programme, set to start after Zuhr prayers, will be presided over by the Naib-e-Ameer of the south unit, Dr Helal Uddin, with Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan as the chief guest and Maulana Abdul Halim as the special guest.
On the other hand, after Asr prayers, Islami Andolon Bangladesh will bring out a protest march from the north gate of Baitul Mukarram.
The procession will be led by the party's Secretary General Principal Maulana Yunus Ahmad and presided over by Dhaka North President and Joint Secretary General Principal Maulana Sheikh Fazle Bari Masud.
On Friday night, Jamaat's Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar issued a statement expressing deep concern and strong condemnation of the incident in which members of law enforcement brutally baton-charged and seriously injured Nur and more than fifty leaders and activists.
He further said, "After the fall of fascism, this attack is extremely shameful, undesirable, and unexpected. We expect tolerance from all sides. At a time when the nation is moving towards building a new Bangladesh, such an attack once again reminds us of fascism. We call upon the concerned authorities to immediately arrest the attackers and ensure exemplary punishment under the law."
Islami Andolon Bangladesh Joint Secretary General and party spokesperson Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman on Friday also protested the attack on Nurul Haque Nur.
