Maherin Chowdhury, 38, a teacher and coordinator at Milestone School, passed away after sustaining severe burns following the crash of a fighter jet on the Milestone College premise earlier on Monday.
The news was confirmed by her younger brother, Munaf Mojib Chowdhury, in a heartfelt post on his verified Facebook profile.
According to family sources, Maherin did not evacuate the building immediately when the fire broke out.
Instead, she focused on helping students escape — reportedly ensuring the safety of several — before she was caught in the flames.
She suffered 100% burns and later succumbed to her injuries while in hospital.
"She was like a mother to me," wrote Munaf Chowdhury. "She raised me, and even in her final moments, she put others before herself.
Maherin Chowdhury leaves behind two sons.
Her family has requested prayers for the departed soul. Further details will be shared once formal procedures at the hospital are completed.
