Independent VP candidate Umama Fatema, who announced her decision to boycott the DUCSU election in the early hours of Wednesday as the vote count began to trickle in, condemned the polls as a rigged exercise.
"1,400 people died for a rigged election! What kind of history is this? What kind of system is this?"
"The election was rigged in an unprecedented way," she continued in a post on her verified Facebook page.
"It will remain a dark night in the history of Bangladesh. The extent of Islami Chhatra Shibir treachery against the nation for its own petty interests will be written in the pages of history."
Around 3:35am, Umama said she had decided to boycott the DUCSU election.
"Boycott! Boycott! I boycott DUCSU. Completely shameless, rigged elections. The DU administration shamed the nation after August 5. Shibir-led administration," she wrote.
Shortly before Umama's post, at around 2:30am, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) backed panel's VP candidate Abidul Islam Khan rejected the DUCSU election, labelling it an "orchestrated farce."
