Counting of the ballots of the DUCSU elections continued through the night and until early Wednesday morning, with the results being announced from 8:30am.
The Shibir-backed United Students Alliance emerged dominant, securing 23 of the 28 posts, including the top three positions.

Chhatra Dal-backed panel fails to secure any post
The Jatiyatabadi Chhatradal-backed panel has not won any of the 28 posts in DUCSU.
Shibir-backed panel wins 11 out of 13 member posts
The United Students Alliance secured 11 out of the 13 member positions in DUCSU.
The winners are Sabikunnahar Tamanna with 10,048 votes, Sorbomitra Chakma 8,988 votes, Anas Ibne Munir 5,015 votes, Imran Hossain 6,256 votes, Tajinur Rahman 5,690 votes, Meftahul Hossain Al Maruf 5,015 votes, Belal Hossain Apu Khan 4,865 votes, Raisul Islam 4,535 votes, Shahinur Rahman 4,390 votes, Afsana Akhter 5,747 votes and Raihan Uddin 5,082 votes.
The two other positions have been won by Hema Chakma from Protirodh Porshod and Ummu Uswatun Rafia, an independent.
Shibir's sweep: Top 3 posts, nine of 12 secretary posts
Candidates of Shibir-backed United Students' Alliance panel won nine of the 12 secretary posts, according to the results announced on Wednesday morning.
The three other secretary posts went to independent candidates.
The panel also swept the top three posts -- vice-president (Shadik Kayem), general secretary (SM Farhad), and assistant general secretary (Mohiuddin Khan).
DUCSU has a total of 28 positions, including VP, GS and AGS, of which 13 are member posts.
Shibir-backed panel sweeps top three posts

Shibir-backed candidate Shadik Kayem was elected the new vice-president (VP) of DUCSU, securing 14,042 votes. His nearest rival, Chhatra Dal’s Abidul Islam Khan, received 5,708 votes.
Around 8:30am on Wednesday, DU’s Chief Election Commissioner Professor Mohammad Jasim Uddin announced the results at the university’s Senate Building.
Independent contender Umama Fatema received 3,389 votes, while another independent candidate, Shamim Hossain, secured 3,884 votes.
For the post of general secretary (GS), Shibir leader SM Farhad was elected with 10,794 votes, defeating Chhatra Dal-backed candidate Tanvir Bari Hamim, who got around 5,283 votes. Protirodh Parishad's Meghmallar Basu was in third place with 4,949 votes.
Meanwhile, for the assistant general secretary (AGS) post, Mohiuddin Khan of the same panel emerged victorious with 11,772 votes.
Shibir-backed panel poised for runaway triumph as results from multiple halls pour in
The Shibir-backed United Students’ Alliance panel’s VP candidate Shadik Kayem continued to build an insurmountable lead as polling results from numerous more halls arrived.
At the Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall, he secured 896 votes while Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) backed panel’s VP candidate Abidul Islam Khan got 314, and independent candidate Umama Fatema 96.
Similarly, in the Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall, Kayem led the way with 633 votes, followed by Abid at 221, Abdul Quader at 70, and Umama Fatema at 56.
The results were no different at SM Hall, where Kayem got 300 votes while Abid got 110 and Umama 34.
The trend held even at the Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, where Kayem led with 841 votes while Abid got 181 and Umama 153.
There looked to be no stopping the Shibir-backed alliance in other posts either, as SM Farhad shot ahead in the General Secretary race.
He got 670 votes at the Sergeant Zahurul Huq Hall, compared to 409 for JCD's Hamim and 140 for Megh
Farhad also roused the Haji Mohammad Mohsin Hall, getting 501 votes compared to 258 for Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal panel and 106 for Meghmallar Bosu of Protirod Parshad.
The case was no different at SM Hall, where Farhad secured 237 ballots while Hamim got 124 and Megh 41.
At the Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, Farhad got 589 votes while Hamim got 288 and Abu Baker Majumder of the Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Songshod 341.
In total, Kayem got 7,516 votes for VP across five of the eight constituencies. Abid received 3,653, Umama 2,355, and Shamim Hossain 2,409. For the GS post, SM Farhad was ahead with 5,638 votes, with Megh behind at 3,465 and Hamim at 2,753.
Shadik Kayem bounces back with big result at Rokeya Hall
After stumbling with just 10 votes from Jagannath Hall, Shadik Kayem, the VP candidate for the Shibir-backed United Students' Alliance, bounced back strongly and regained the solo lead in the VP race as the vote count from the Begum Rokeya Hall rolled in.
Kayem received an overwhelming majority of the votes from the hall, securing 1,472 ballots, continuing the trend that has persisted for much of the voting.
Independent candidate Umama Fatema followed behind with 614 votes while Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal backed panel’s candidate Abidul Islam 575
United Student Alliance GS candidate SM Farhad secured 1,120 votes from Rokeya Hall while Meghmallar Bosu got 780 and Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal got 447.
After the results of six halls had been compiled, SM Farhad was ahead in the GS race, having secured 3,767 votes compared to Megh’s 2,777 and Hamim’s 1,814.
Umama boycotts DUCSU polls

Independent candidate Umama Fatema declared a boycott of the DUCSU election, officially stating her position on a post on her verified Facebook profile made at around 3:35am.
“Boycott! Boycott! I boycott DUCSU. Completely shameless, rigged elections. The DU administration shamed the nation after August 5. Shibir-led administration,” she wrote.
Shortly before Umama’s post, at around 2:30am, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) backed panel’s VP candidate Abidul Islam Khan rejected the DUCSU election, labelling it an “orchestrated farce.”
Shadik Kayem bags only 10 votes in Jagannath Hall; Abid leads with 1,276
Independent candidate Umama Fatema and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal backed panel’s candidate Abidul Islam made some inroads in the race for the VP post in the DUCSU election after the results from Jagannath Hall were revealed.
Shadik Kayem, the VP candidate for the Shibir-backed United Students' Alliance, was rebuffed completely, getting only 10 votes. However, he still remains in the driving seat.
On the other hand, Abid found overwhelming support, garnering 1,276 votes.
Umama received 278 votes.
Earlier, Shadik Kayem seemed to be heading for a landslide victory after the results from the Curzon Hall Constituency -- namely from Fazlul Haque Hall, Shahidullah Hall and Amar Ekushey Hall -- were revealed.
This had seen Shadik take a huge lead as he tallied 2,451 votes from the three halls.
The race is now closer between Shadik, who now has 2,461 votes, and Abid, whose total rose to 1,797.
JCD’s VP candidate Abid rejects ‘orchestrated farce’
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) backed panel’s VP candidate Abidul Islam Khan rejected the DUCSU election results shortly after the announcement began.
At around 2:30am on Wednesday, he wrote on his verified Facebook profile, “I had anticipated this orchestrated rigging right after noon. They just fixed the numbers as they pleased. I reject this orchestrated farce.”
His remarks came as results from the three halls in the Curzon Hall constituency showed Shibir-backed United Students' Alliance VP candidate Shadik Kayem taking a massive lead with 2,451 votes, compared to Abid’s 521.
Other candidates from the United Students' Alliance also had significant leads in the race for the GS and AGS posts.
Early signs point to landslide win for Shibir-backed United Students' Alliance

The Shibir-backed United Students' Alliance seemed to be heading for a landslide victory in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DACSU) election as the vote counts started trickling in shortly after 2:00am.
Results from the Curzon Hall Constituency -- namely from Fazlul Haque Hall, Shahidullah Hall and Amar Ekushey Hall -- painted a clear picture.
Shadik Kayem, the United Student Alliance's VP candidate, tallied 2,451 votes from the three halls.
His closest competitor, Chattra Dal's Mohammad Abidul Islam Khan, only got 521 votes from the three halls.
The case was much the same in the race for the GS and AGS posts.
In the GS race, SM Farhad, whose eligibility in the election came under question following a writ petition, took a strong lead, getting 1,828 votes, far more than his closest competitor, Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal panel and Abu Baker Majumder of the Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Songshod.
Shibir-backed AGS candidate Mohiuddin Khan captured 2,070 votes from the three halls, also dwarfing his nearest competitors.
Shadik Kayem takes Shahidullah Hall now, gets 966 votes
Shibir-backed panel’s VP candidate Shadik Kayem took the Curzon Hall constituency by storm, also securing the Shahidullah Hall votes, bagging a winning 966.
His closest competitor, Umama Fatema, got 140 votes in the same hall.
This was a hattrick for Kayem in the Curzon Hall constituency.
Shadik Kayem bags most votes in Fazul Huq Hall
Shadik Kayem secured another landslide victory, in the Fazlul Huq Hall, bagging 1,270 votes for the VP post.
Umama Fatema got the second highest of 547 votes.
Shibir-backed panel dominates Amar Ekushey hall votes
The Shibir backed Oikyoboddho Shikkharthi Jote mopped up the majority of the votes of the Amar Ekushey hall.
The panel’s VP candidate Shadik Kayem got 644 votes, followed by Umama Fatema who got 90.
SM Farhad, candidate for the GS post, got 460 votes.
Most votes for the AGS post went to Mohiuddin Khan.
The votes are being announced at the Curzon Hall.
