Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib on Tuesday said Dhaka University authorities had not allowed enough polling agents to be present at the centres.
As polling went on for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union, he said, "Sufficient polling agents were not allowed to enter all the polling centres. Those who are inside the centres have informed [us] that due to the lack of polling agents, if someone gets two ballot papers, it will not be possible to verify it. In other words, since there is limited monitoring, there is a risk… This is a major concern. We had already observed this issue yesterday."
He told reporters that there should have been eight polling agents for each centre. "We had also submitted the names [of possible polling agents]. But only one has been allowed. For 20–30 booths in a centre, it is not possible for a single agent to monitor all of them."
"We received the security passes late at night. We will accept whatever result comes through a fair election."
