Four people died in the attacks and clashes stemming from an NCP rally in Gopalganj on Tuesday.
Gopalganj General Hospital Superintendent Jibitesh Biswas confirmed news of the deaths and the names of the deceased to Dhaka Stream's local correspondent.
The deceased are Deepto Saha, 25, son of Santosh Saha, a resident of Udayan Road in Gopalganj city; Ramzan Kazi, 18, of Harinahati village in Upjor, Kotalipara; Sohel Rana, 30, of Miapara area of the city; and Emon, 24, of Bherarhat Bazar in Gopalganj Sadar upazila.
Jibitesh said that 15 injured were undergoing treatment at the hospital. Three seriously injured people, including one Ramzan Munshi, were sent to Dhaka.
Earlier, on Wednesday, around 2:30 pm, an attack was carried out allegedly on an NCP convoy on its way back from a rally in Gopalganj. The attack took place in front of Gopalganj Government College in the Launch Ghat area of the city.
NCP leaders said the attackers were activists of the Awami League.
Gopalganj, the birthplace of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is an Awami League stronghold.
The NCP is holding rallies in all 64 districts. In August 2024, then ruling party AL and PM Sheikh Hasina were toppled in a student-led mass uprising. Many of NCP's current leadership spearheaded the movement.
