The advisory council on Thursday adopted a condolence motion expressing deep sorrow over the deaths when a fighter jet of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed at Milestone School and College in Uttara.
At the outset of the advisers' meeting at Jamuna, a minute of silence was observed to honour the victims, followed by a prayer seeking forgiveness for the departed souls.
The council also approved a proposal to confer state honours upon two teachers who died in the crash while on duty at the school.
Details regarding the nature and presentation of the honours will be announced shortly.
The government pledged to provide all necessary support to the families of the deceased and ensure proper medical treatment for those injured in the incident.
The Ministry of Education has been tasked with engaging the school authorities to determine the next course of action in this regard.
As part of a collective national mourning, it has been decided that special prayers will be held across all religious institutions on Friday.
These prayers will be dedicated to the souls of the deceased and the recovery of the injured. The Ministry of Religious Affairs will oversee the coordination and implementation of this initiative.
The government reiterated its commitment to standing beside the affected families during this time of immense grief and pledged to take all steps necessary to ensure justice and support in the aftermath of the tragedy.
