The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations begin today (Thursday) amid tight security.
The written examinations are set to conclude on August 10, while practical exams are scheduled from August 11 to 21.
This year, 12,51,111 students are scheduled to sit for these tests at 2,797 centres across the country. About 10.55 lakh students are registered with the nine general education boards, around 86,000 with the madrasa board, and over 1.09 lakh with the technical education board. The number of candidates has decreased by 81,882 compared to last year.
The Ministry of Education has directed all the coaching centres to remain closed until August 15 to ensure a fair exam environment.
In response to the increasing cases of COVID-19 and dengue, the Inter-Education Board Co-ordination Committee has released directives for all examination centres. All the centre authorities have been instructed to ensure cleanliness to help prevent the spread of dengue.
