BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie on Friday said Bangladesh must be built under the leadership of the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman.
"This is our challenge. This is our commitment, our conviction," he said, a correspondent in Lakshmipur reports.
He made the comments while inaugurating the bi-annual conference of Ramgati upazila and municipal BNP at the Alexander Model Government High School field in Lakshmipur.
Annie further said, "Do we do politics and hold leadership to earn money? No, this cannot continue. Politics should be done for service, for dignity.
"Those who want to be leaders to dominate others must change their mindset. Because we are committed to building the nation under the leadership of Tarique Rahman," he said addressing the party members, he said,
Mentioning that fascist Hasina should not be forgotten when building a new nation, the leader said, "Since 5 August last year Tarique Rahman has taken up the work inspired by Ziaur Rahman's dreams and Khaleda Zia's uncompromising style. The old ways of politics will not continue. The 17-year trend will not continue. Tarique Rahman will present a new form of politics and social structure."
The chief guest at the conference was BNP Vice Chairman Ahmed Azam Khan and the special guest was the BNP Chairperson's Political Adviser Abul Khair Bhuiyan.
The keynote speaker was BNP Central Committee Assistant Secretary for Industry and Commerce Affairs Ashraf Uddin Nizan.
