With the elections around the corner, while there can be differences between political parties, they are all united in the fight against fascism, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syeed Abdullah Muhammad Taher said on Tuesday.
Speaking after a meeting between the chief adviser and the four political parties – BNP, Jamaat, NCP and IAB – he also said all parties should work towards reaching a consensus on the July Proclamation.
Denouncing conspiracies centring reforms, he said the proposed changes were not a ploy to delay elections.
Gazi Ataur Rahman, joint secretary general of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, reiterated the need for unity amid the differences.
He, however, said the interim government should also control how political parties react to such differences.
He further pointed out that the Secretariat had been attacked a few times recently, and urged the government to root out fascist elements in the intelligence and administration sectors before something major happens.
