Chhatra Dal on Thursday expelled Anisur Rahman Milon, vice president of the outfit's Shah Makhdum Hall unit at Rajshahi University, for referring to female students as "unpaid sex workers" in a Facebook post.
Sultan Ahmed Rahi, president of the RU unit Chhatra Dal, has also filed a case with Motihar Police Station against Milon.
The decision to expel Milon was announced in a press release by the unit's Office Secretary Nafiul Islam Jibon.
"Milon made an obscene remark in a social media post while discussions were taking place regarding a notice issued by the provost of July-36 Hall. As the investigation confirmed his comment, he has been permanently expelled from all positions, including his primary membership," reads the press release.
On Monday night, the authorities of July-36 Hall issued a notice summoning 91 students for returning late to the dormitory. The move drew heavy criticism across campus and online.
The hall authorities withdrew the notice the following day. However, it was a comment under a Facebook post about the incident that sparked the protests, where Anisur Rahman Milon allegedly referred to the female students as "unpaid sex workers".
Following the backlash, RU Chhatra Dal issued a statement late Wednesday night, announcing the temporary suspension of Milon and the formation of a two-member probe committee.
