The Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal announced a full panel for the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election on Wednesday at 12pm during a press briefing held at the Aparajeyo Bangla sculpture area on campus by the organisation's central president, Rakibul Islam Rakib.
Chhatra Dal nominated Abidul Islam Khan, joint general secretary of DU Chhatra Dal and a student of the 2015–16 session of the Department of Islamic Studies, to run for the post of Vice President (VP).
To contest for the position of General Secretary (GS), Tanvir Bari Hamim, convener of the Kabi Jasim Uddin Hall unit of Chhatra Dal and a student of the 2018–19 session of the Department of Women and Gender Studies, has been nominated.
Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed has been nominated to run for the Assistant General Secretary (AGS) post.
Among candidates for the other secretary positions, Ariful Islam has been nominated as Secretary for the Liberation War and Democratic Movements.
Besides, the organisation has decided to leave the Research and Publication Secretary post vacant, out of respect for Sanjida Ahmed Tonni.
Tonni was injured on 15 July 2024, during an attack on DU campus by the now-banned Chhatra League, the student wing of the ousted Awami League.
Earlier on Monday, she submitted her nomination form for the post of Research and Publication Secretary.
The Chhatra Dal-announced panel will support her in her candidacy.
