The secondary and higher education division under the education ministry has unveiled the draft amendment of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Act, 2018.
A letter, signed by the division's Senior Assistant Secretary Sifat Uddin, unveiled the amendment proposal on September 4, asking people to submit their views on the draft within 15 days.
According to the issued letter, an inter-ministerial meeting was held on August 12 to rectify (NCTB) Act -2018. The proposal of the amendment was authorised by proceedings.
To gather feedback on the amendment proposal, the public is requested to send their opinions via email within 15 days from the date of publication (4 September).
The decisions taken in the meeting include that this law will be called the "National Curriculum and Textbook (Amendment) Board Ordinance, 2025." It may be included under the regulations formulated under this law.
The board's functions will include the printing, publication, distribution, and marketing of textbooks. However, it is stipulated that textbooks for pre-primary and primary levels under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education will be printed, published, and distributed by the Directorate of Primary Education.
