Farida Parveen, one of the most esteemed Lalon singers of our country, was born on 31 December 1954 in Natore. She developed an interest in music, hearing her mother's melodious voice. And as her father was in the medical profession, she got the opportunity to get introduced to a diverse cultural atmosphere of different districts in Bangladesh.
Her journey in music started when she got a harmonium from her father. With that harmonium, she sought guidance from Ustad Kamal Chakraborty in Magura.
In her childhood, she was trained in classical music and Nazrul songs, but later she discovered a spirit of self-purification and the vibrant essence of melody in Lalon's songs.
For the past several years, she had been suffering from kidney problems.
In September 2025, when her health condition worsened, she was admitted to the ICU. She passed away while under treatment around 10:150pm on 13 September.
On behalf of Dhaka Stream, we extend our deepest respect to the memory of this eminent artist.
