The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, National Citizen Party, and six other parties will launch simultaneous demonstrations, demanding a ban on the political activities of the Jatiya Party and immediate implementation of the July Charter.
They will also demand the introduction of the Proportional Representation (PR) system and a level playing field ahead of the coming national polls, according to a media release by the Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish.
The Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, led by Mamunul Haque, will hold a press conference in this regard on Sunday at 11:00am at its Bijoynagar office.
Hasan Junaid, media co-ordinator of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish, told Stream, the other like-minded parties involved will also hold separate press briefings in the coming days to announce their respective programs as part of the simultaneous movement.
Abu Hanif, media coordinator of the Gana-Odhikar Parishad, told Stream that the party will demand banning the activities of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance.
Sources from several parties have confirmed that other parties to join the movement are Islami Andolan Bangladesh (led by the Pir of Char Monai), Khelafat Majlish (led by Ahmad Abdul Quader), Gono-Adhikar Parishad (led by Nurul Haque Nur), Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party (led by Mojibur Rahman Monju), and Bangladesh Nizam-e-Islam Party (led by Sarwar Kamal Azizi).
