Gono Adhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur's condition is improving, and he has been shifted from the intensive care unit (ICU) to a VIP cabin, according to doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
"He is gradually getting better. There are no major health concerns at this stage. He has sustained fractures in his nose and jaw, and an injury to the eye, but these are being closely monitored," Dr Asaduzzaman, director of DMCH, told Stream.
He also informed that Nur has already been shifted from the ICU to a VIP cabin, signalling significant improvement.
When asked how long it might take for a full recovery, Asaduzzaman said it may take two to four weeks for the facial fractures to heal and four to six weeks for the linear fracture in the eye to heal.
He expressed optimism that Nur would make a complete recovery within this time frame.
The hospital's medical board has recommended that he continue his check-up at the hospital. However, they have also given him the choice to go abroad for further treatment.
Meanwhile, protests erupted in Paltan on Wednesday demanding justice for the attack on Nur, causing traffic congestion in the area.
DMP Ramna Zone Deputy Commissioner Masud Alam informed Stream that efforts are underway to peacefully remove the demonstrators from the streets.
