Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin on Thursday said that international flights from Cox's Bazar Airport are expected to begin operations by mid-October this year.
"Eighty per cent construction work of the international terminal building of the airport has already completed and other preparations are also progressing fast," he told the reports after inspecting the progress of the construction work of the Cox's Bazar Airport.
The adviser held a meeting with the airport authorities and project officials and later inspected different development projects in the airport. He also talked to the concerned authorities at that time.
Replying to a question, Bashir Uddin said the flight operations on international routes will start with one aircraft and the flights would be increased phase by phase. There will be efforts to give tickets to the passengers at attractive prices, he added.
Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry's Secretary Nasreen Jahan, Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin, and concerned officials accompanied the adviser during the visit.
