North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un is scheduled to attend a military parade in Beijing on 3 September, reports the BBC, quoting China's foreign ministry.
This appearance is expected to be his first at an international gathering of world leaders.
The event, known as the "Victory Day" parade, will commemorate the 80th anniversary of China's victory over Japan and the conclusion of World War II.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is also scheduled to attend, along with leaders from 26 other nations.
China is planning to showcase its most advanced military equipment, including hundreds of aircraft, tanks, and anti-drone technology, marking the first full public display of its newly structured military forces. The carefully organised parade will feature tens of thousands of troops marching through Tiananmen Square. It will include members from 45 divisions of China's armed forces, as well as war veterans.
Chinese President Xi Jinping will oversee the 70-minute event, which will be watched closely by international observers and analysts.
This will be Kim's first visit to Beijing in six years—his last trip was in 2019 for the 70th anniversary of China-North Korea diplomatic ties. He also made three visits to Beijing in 2018, a rare flurry of international activity for the typically isolated leader.
