At least three people were killed, including a woman and another was injured after a private car overturned after hitting a roadside railing in Srinagar Upazila of Munshiganj on Thursday morning.
The accident took place around 6am in the Shologhor area on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, said Dewan Azad, station officer of Srinagar Fire Station.
The deceased were identified as Raisa Akter, 20; Arman Hossen, 25; and Tanji, 25.
The injured is identified as Robin Hossen, hailing from the Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur District.
According to the Fire Service and local sources, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the roadside railing, causing it to overturn.
After getting the information, a fire service unit reached the spot and started a rescue operation. Two victims were found dead inside the car, while another succumbed to injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital, along with a fourth passenger in critical condition.
Shrinagar Fire Service Station officer Dewan Azad Hossain said that the fast-moving private car from Mawa to Dhaka lost control and overturned, causing traffic disruption for about an hour. Later, Highway Police and Fire Service personnel removed the injured and the wrecked car. The area was cleaned by spraying water, and traffic resumed as usual.
Hasada Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Qader Zilani informed that the traffic on the Dhaka-bound lane became normal around 7am after the accident-hit vehicle was removed.
