The Bangladesh Army has recovered arms and explosives and arrested three suspects in a special operation conducted in Darikharbona area under Boalia Police Station in Rajshahi.
According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) on Saturday, the special raid was carried out in the early hours of today based on a month-long intelligence surveillance.
The arrestees have been identified as Montaserul Alam Anindo, Md Robin, and Md Faisal.
During the raid, two foreign-made revolvers with ammunition, an air gun, six locally-made firearms, a military-grade binocular and optical scope, a foreign dagger, advanced walkie-talkie sets, GPS device, taser gun, local and foreign cartridges, a large number of unused SIM cards, explosive-making materials, multiple computer sets, cash money, foreign and local liquor, nitrogen cartridges (to be defused by the bomb disposal unit), and various other items were seized.
The ISPR statement said that intelligence agencies have already begun further investigation, while the operation is still ongoing.
The Bangladesh Army, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, remains firmly committed to safeguarding national peace and security, the release said, adding, operations against illegal arms, explosives, and terrorist activities will continue.
