Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan on Thursday said that those advisers who intend to join politics after the announcement of the election schedule should resign.
"No one of us, including me and the advisers who wish to engage in politics in the future, should be part of the electioneering government. Otherwise, the election will be questioned," he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
Asked if he would resign, Adviser Asif said no decision has been made yet, and the final decision will come from the government in this regard.
Insisted, Asif said, "It could largely be said like that."
Replying to another question, he said it is still pending whether he will contest elections or join the NCP.
Regarding extortion allegations, he dismissed those as 'baseless and politically motivated' and under investigation.
