Central President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir Jahidul Islam said the spirit of unity created through last year's July Uprising is being tarnished by offensive statements made by other student organisations.
"We have to move away from this. Otherwise, the fascist Awami League will be the only beneficiary," he told reporters after a reception ceremony for SSC and Dakhil GPA-5 students organised by Shibir Chittagong Metropolitan North at a community center in the port city on August 10.
The indifference of some leaders of other parties, their childish behavior, immaturity, and lack of experience are creating discord among the forces of July, he said.

He added that nobody could show a statement by Shibir that has created bitterness so far. "But when leaders of other student organisations give a 10-minute speech, they speak about Shibir for 9 minutes."
He also warned that the fallen fascists were not sitting idle.
"Not everyone could escape by helicopter. A large section is in the country. They are using looted money to create anarchy. Many administration officials, including former MPs, invested in Gopalganj and initiated the carnage that unfolded there."
He cautioned, "The more discord there is among us, the more they will take advantage."
Regarding a recent statement by Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin, he said, "I think he gave a good suggestion when he said that you should go to Chittagong University if you want to see Shibir's politics. Because if you want to do student politics, we have to travel all over the country. The more you travel, the more you will learn, the more you will know about Shibir's politics and brotherhood and love will increase.
He added that their relations with leaders of other organisations, including the Chhatra Dal, are excellent and cordial.
Islam added that students were suffering from trauma due to politics.
"We conducted an internal survey at Dhaka University and found that 80% of students do not want politics. This is because, in the past, Chhatra League tortured students through hall politics. It discriminated against students and created torture cells. Therefore, we want to respect the students' opinion and say that we will not do hall politics. We will only do campus politics."
He said, we are surprised and disappointed by the statement made by the Rajshahi University Chhatra Dal President regarding the student council elections. A student leader will not allow the student council elections. We hope that a neutral, independent, fair student representative will be elected.
"Shibir does only 10 percent political work. The remaining 90 percent of the work is academic. We provide career guidelines to students. We work to create honest, ideal, patriotic citizens. After August 5, we thought that everyone would be better. But that didn't happen. The reason for this is a lack of honest citizens," Islam also said.
He told the students, "Don't be a businessman who smuggles hundreds of crores of taka abroad and destroys famous Islamic banks. Don't be a police officer like Harun [former Detective Branch chief Mohammad Harunur Rashid], don't be a prime minister like [Sheikh] Hasina. Don't be a controversial teacher, be a teacher like Maherin Chowdhury."
The programme was presided over by Tanjir Hossain Jewel, president of the Metropolitan North Shibir. European Commission Asian Representative Ashiqur Rahman, Shibir's Central Madrasa Affairs Secretary Alauddin Abir, and acting Ameer Nazrul Islam of the Metropolitan Jamaat were among others present.
Shibir felicitated 1,200 SSC and Dakhil students at the programme.
