A luxury Rolls-Royce vehicle crashed on the Purbachal Expressway, popularly known as 300 feet, in the capital.
Images of the crash went viral on social media, while the site of the accident also drew large crowds of onlookers.
Speaking to Dhaka Stream, an officer of Khilkhet Police Station, speaking under the condition of anonymity, said the car was speeding before the crash.
He also said no fatalities had been reported.
The vehicle, reportedly a Rolls-Royce Ghost — a model known for its exquisite craftsmanship and a price tag exceeding $350,000 (over Tk4 crore in Bangladesh or Tk30 crore at import cost) was severely damaged in the incident.
Witnesses at the scene described a harrowing moment as the high-end vehicle appeared to lose control before colliding with the median strip.
Images from the crash site show the front and sides of the car extensively wrecked.
Members of law enforcement agencies and the army quickly responded to secure the scene.
"There were no casualties. The driver and passengers are safe, and the car has been recovered," said the officer.
The vehicle bore an "AFR" (Applied For Registration) plate, indicating it had not yet been formally registered, sparking online speculation about the owner's identity and whether any traffic violations occurred.
While Rolls-Royce cars are a rare sight on Bangladeshi roads, the crash has triggered widespread reactions on social media, with many users questioning road safety and high-speed driving on urban highways.
