Environment, Forests and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has announced that a 10-year strategic plan will be formulated to develop the Bangladesh Climate Change Trust (BCCCT) as a skilled, self-sufficient, and modern institution.
She made the remarks during a meeting at the BCCT office in the capital's Mohakhali, reads a press release on Monday.
The Environment Advisor said that the Climate Change Trust Act of 2010 would be amended, with the guidelines updated to make it more relevant.
She added that if government land is allocated, efforts will be made to construct a dedicated building for the BCCT, which will bring stability and dynamism to the organisation's operations.
"Necessary steps will be taken to secure patent rights for research projects funded by the Trust Fund. Additionally, initiatives will be undertaken to ensure transparency and accountability by instituting a real-time digital monitoring system for project activities," she added.
The meeting was also attended by Dr Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, Additional Secretary (Climate Change); Gazi Mohammad Wali ul Haque, Managing Director of BCCT; Sheikh Moniruzzaman, Secretary (Deputy Secretary); along with other officials from the Ministry of Environment and BCCT.
