The National Citizen Party (NCP) reached Natore on the seventh day of their ambitious 'July March for Nation-Building', with the party's convenor announcing that its 'manifesto for freedom' would be unveiled on August 3.
Addressing a rally at the Swadhinata Chattar in Natore, NCP Convener Nahid said, "On August 3, the manifesto of liberation will be announced at the Central Shaheed Minar. That manifesto will chart the outline of a new Bangladesh. The new Bangladesh will be made in the light of this manifesto."
He also reiterated demands to issue a July Proclamation, saying excuses would not be tolerated.
"NCP will not give false assurances. The youth have set out to build the country, help them. Bangladesh will be built in the same way that fascism was eradicated. For this, a July proclamation and charter must be issued, it must be recognised in the constitution. No excuses or conspiracies will be accepted in this regard."
He added that fascism was eliminated by the united efforts of people from all walks of life.
"Trust our NCP. We are as united as we were during the mass uprising. There will be no compromise when it comes to rebuilding the country. Terrorism and extortion will be eradicated."
Sarjis Alam, the party's chief northern region organiser, said people demand a radical change in the country's system of governance.
"They have shown their aspiration for change and reform through active participation in the mass uprising which led to the ouster of the Sheikh Hasina government. The Bangladesh of the future will reflect the people's aspirations."
NCP Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sharmin added, "Our promise is to reorganise this country. We want freedom for the people, freedom from tyranny. We are not afraid of anything. We will move forward with the people of the country."
The party's top leaders, including Nahid, Sarjis, Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Chief Organizer (South) Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Zara, and Tasnubha Zabin were present alongside leaders of the Natore District NCP.
Local NCP leaders informed that the procession was delayed by an hour due to the HSC examination.
