Google, in collaboration with City Bank, Visa and Mastercard, has brought its Google Pay, a digital wallet platform and online payment system, in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur inaugurated the service on Tuesday at the Westin Dhaka in the capital's Gulshan area.
Welcoming Google Pay in Bangladesh, Governor Mansur expressed the hope that Bangladesh will become a trusted destination for both local and foreign investors.
Speaking at the event, City Bank CEO Mashrur Arefin said, "This partnership is a reflection of our commitment to building a future-focused digital payment ecosystem in Bangladesh. We are proud to offer this innovative service to our customers."
This service will allow only City Bank's customers to use the service with their debit, credit, and prepaid cards.
Users can use Google Pay to make quick, safe, and contactless purchases by connecting their Mastercard or Visa card to Google Wallet.
