Amid a firestorm of criticism centring on the crash of a training jet on Milestone College premises, which has so far left 27 dead, Labour and Employment Adviser M Sakhawat Hossain urged the defence ministry to reconsider its location and types of training.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the national burn institute on Tuesday, he said, "To prevent such accidents from happening in the future, I will tell all organisations, especially the defence ministry, that I think it is necessary to take a fresh look at how and where such training should be conducted."
Highlighting Dhaka's dense population, he said such training should not be conducted there.
On the crash, he said, "A plane can crash for various reasons. The main reasons are pilot error and technical problems…As far as I know, even though these jets are old, the interior ambience and components are updated. Now, until the black box analysis is done, it will not be understood whether it was a technical error or a pilot error."
He also mourned the death of the pilot.
The adviser said a team of expert doctors is coming from Singapore, and the injured will be taken there if necessary, as per the doctors' advice.
