The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate of the armed forces on Tuesday clarified that the aircraft that crashed at Milestone College in Uttara was a "battle-worthy fighter aircraft".
ISPR, in a message sent to the media, said, "A small clarification is required. Few media outlets are writing that yesterday's aircraft was a training aircraft."
"It was a battle-worthy fighter aircraft which was conducting a training mission," it added.
On Monday, the Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed into Milestone College shortly after take-off.
According to ISPR, the plane had taken off from BAF Base Bir Uttom AK Khandker at 1:06pm and crashed due to a technical failure.
Till now, the death toll from the horrific tragedy has risen to 27.
Another 78 people are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Dhaka.
Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Dr Sayedur Rahman confirmed the updated casualty figures at a briefing at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at 8.00am on Tuesday.
