Sushila Karki officially assumes office as Nepal's Prime Minister on Sunday, two days after being appointed to lead the interim government, reports Kathmandu Post.
One of her first official moves was to extend relief measures to victims of last week's protests.
According to Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal, the government has officially declared those killed during the Gen Z movement as martyrs, and each bereaved family will receive Rs 1 million as immediate compensation.
The government has also ordered hospitals to provide free medical treatment to those injured in the protests. Aryal confirmed that treatment under the new directive has already begun.
Karki "urged calm and cooperation to rebuild" the nation after days of violent upheavals last week left at least 72 people dead and destroyed government buildings and politicians' homes.
"We all need to get together to rebuild the country," Karki said, pledging to work to get the South Asian nation back on track, state TV reported, as quoted by AP news on Sunday.
Former chief justice Karki was sworn in on Friday by President Ramchandra Paudel, making Karki the country's first female head of government, following calls from the Gen Z movement for a transitional leadership.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Karki visited several hospitals in Kathmandu and met with injured protesters.
Before taking office, Karki paid tribute at the Martyrs' Memorial in Lainchaur, laying a garland at the statues of national heroes.
She then began her official duties from the Home Ministry building in Singha Durbar, which is now housing the Prime Minister's Office after the original premises were set ablaze during Tuesday's protests.
