French President Emmanuel Macron stated on Tuesday that Israel's intensified military campaign in Gaza or any efforts to annexe additional Palestinian land would not hinder the growing movement toward recognising a Palestinian state, reports AFP.
"No offensive, annexation attempt, or forced displacement of populations will derail the momentum" toward the two-state solution, Macron posted on X after a conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
He also sharply criticised the United States' decision to deny visas to Palestinian Authority officials for the UN meeting, calling it "unacceptable," a stance echoed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"We call for this measure to be reversed and for Palestinian representation to be ensured in accordance with the Host Country Agreement," Macron added.
His remarks come as Israel escalates its military actions in Gaza, drawing increasing international concern over the severe humanitarian impact on Palestinian civilians in the blockaded enclave.
France is among several nations preparing to recognise Palestine at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York, with Belgium recently joining the list of Western countries set to follow suit.
