The panel backed by the Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal on Thursday announced a 10-point manifesto ahead of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.
Abidul Islam Khan, who is contesting the post of vice-president from the panel, unveiled the manifesto during a press conference organised at the university's Bottala landmark.
The key points of the manifesto are:
- Building a modern, pleasant, livable and secure campus with a focus on education and research.
- Ensuring safety and empowerment for female students, including improved health services.
- Ensuring quality healthcare and health insurance for students, along with facilitating education and mobility support for students with special needs.
- Modernising the curriculum, infrastructure, and examination system and improvement in research quality.
- Regulating campus transportation, introducing battery-run shuttle services, and improving commuting facilities.
- Offering hassle-free administrative services, student loans, and campus-based employment opportunities.
- Engaging youth in constructive activities, while expanding sports and cultural programmes.
- Enhancing digital services for students, ensuring cybersecurity, and adopting initiatives to prevent cyberbullying.
- Improving waste management, promoting environmental conservation, greening the campus, and building an animal-friendly campus.
- Building an effective DUCSU and increasing the university's representation on international platforms.
The panel's general secretary candidate, Sheikh Tanvir Bari Hamim, and assistant general secretary candidate, Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed, among others, were present.
