Dhaka University has suspended social science student Ali Husen for six months on charges of using offensive language and threatening a female student.
According to a statement issued by the DU Public Relations Office on 3 September, a proctorial probe committee recommended the action against the student of the 2020-2021 session.
It adds that the six-month suspension is the highest punishment within the DU proctor's jurisdiction.
The complaint against Ali Husen has been referred to the DU committee on sexual harassment.
Ali Husen is a resident of Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.
On 1 September, Ali Husen in a now-deleted Facebook post urged people to gang-rape a female student who filed a writ-petition with the High Court challenging a Shibir leader's eligibility to run for a DUCSU post.
His Facebook post drew widespread criticism with many, including teachers, calling for action against him.
