The authorities have decided to impose strict restrictions on movement around Dhaka University, restricting the general public from entering the campus ahead of the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections.
These restrictions will be in place from 8:00pm on 8 September to 6:00am on 10 September.
During this period, no one other than students, teachers, officers, and employees with valid university ID cards will be allowed to enter the campus.
This was announced in an urgent notice issued by the university's proctor's office on Thursday.
According to the notice, seven entry points to the university – Shahbagh, Palashi, Doel Chattar, Shibbari Crossing, Fuller Road, Udayan School, and Nilkhet – will be closed to the general public.
No vehicles other than those with Dhaka University stickers and those used for emergency services will be allowed to enter the campus.
The authorities have requested everyone to keep their ID cards with them during this period.
In case of emergency, family members of teachers and officers must collect a security pass from the proctor's office to enter the campus, according to the notice.
