Abdul Quader, who is contesting the post of vice-president from the Anti-Discrimination Student Union Panel in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election, said that he no longer has any aspirations of winning the polls.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Quader said he had been facing constant harassment since speaking about razakars, and is now focused on survival.
He is also convener of the DU branch of the Bangladesh Democratic Students' Union.
"It started after talking about that Razakar, and it has been increasing day by day," Quader said, referring to a Facebook post he made on August 5 this year.
In that post, Quader alleged, "The Islamic Student Union is making a despicable attempt to erase '71 with 24. Today, they are hanging pictures of Nizami-Mujahid-Qader Molla at the TSC of Dhaka University. The attempt to normalize the crimes of 1971 must be stopped. Why is the university proctor silent after seeing this?"
Quader said he has been unable to sleep peacefully since that day.
"I wake up in the middle of the night with my body shaking. How much more can you do with a human being? How much patience do humans have? I don't know how much longer I can take it."
Quader alleged that his mother was also harassed.
Fearing that this harassment may increase further in the future, Quader wrote, "This is just the beginning. There are 5 more days left. Thinking about what will happen in those days, I become even more traumatised."
