A joint task force has recovered over 3,500 cubic feet of stones illegally extracted from a tourist attraction site in Jaflong, Sylhet.
The stones were recovered during a drive on Thursday led by Gowainghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ratan Kumar Adhikari.
Teams of police and border guards participated in the drive.
The recovered stones were carefully returned to the area, Ratan said, adding that the stones were stolen from the Zero Point area.
"Acting on a tip-off, we launched an operation. Police and BGB teams are patrolling round the clock. As part of this ongoing effort, about 3,500 cubic feet of stones that had been extracted were located and recovered."
