Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has expressed concern and strongly condemned the incident in which Nural Pagla's body was exhumed and set ablaze in Goalanda, Rajbari on Friday.
"Nurul Haque is now dead; he will be accountable to Allah for everything he did during his lifetime. But Islam does not approve of exhuming body from the grave and burning it in this way," Jamaat said in its statement.
"Human and religious values have been violated in this incident. We express deep concern and strongly condemn this incident."
It added that Jamaat does not tolerate any activity that creates chaos and said it had no role in the event.
"The attempt to link Jamaat-e-Islami's name with this incident is very sad, unwanted and unwelcome.
"The country has a law and judiciary. Taking the law into one's own hands is in no way acceptable. In the interest of maintaining the law and order situation, peace and stability of the country, the law enforcing agencies should have played a more responsible role."
