Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in two separate raids at Alir Dail and Khorermukh areas of Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar arrested three individuals, including two women, along with 90,000 pieces of Yaba and 28 kg of marijuana, reports BSS.
Following secret information that a large consignment of drugs would enter Bangladesh by crossing the sea from Myanmar, the BGB's Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) took immediate steps to conduct a special operation, a BGB press release said.
As per the plan, several BGB patrol teams were deployed in strategic positions on the Naf River and the coastal areas, as well as the beach adjacent to Marine Drive, late Tuesday night to arrest drug traffickers.
After conducting intensive intelligence activities, the BGB personnel arrested two persons named Minara Begum (35) and Kefayet Ullah (19) and seized 90,000 pieces of Yaba tablets from the house of Minara Begum at Alir Dail area under Sabrang Union around 6 am on Tuesday.
In another operation, members of the BGB arrested another drug trafficker, Jamila Begum, along with 28 kilograms of ganja from her house at Khorermukh area of Teknaf.
They have been handed over to the Teknaf Police Station along with the seized items.
Teknaf Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ashikur Rahman said, BGB personnel have been performing their duties with utmost professionalism and dedication to pursue a zero tolerance policy against the drug alongside protecting the border.
"Such special operations will continue in the future for protecting national security and public interest," he said.
