Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Dhaka Ambassador Tracy Ann Jacobson on Wednesday said the relationship between Bangladesh and the US is being built hand in hand.
She made this remark while speaking at the concluding ceremony of the week-long joint military exercise of the Bangladesh Army and the United States Pacific Army Command at Jalalabad Cantonment in Sylhet.
"This exercise is a symbol of the promising cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States. It reflects the shared goals of both countries in promoting security, peace, and prosperity in the Bay of Bengal and the Indo-Pacific region. Through this exercise, US soldiers have the opportunity to train with the Bangladesh Army, which is renowned for its exceptional skills in global peacekeeping," said Jacobson.
"The relationship between our two great nations is being built person by person, from Bangladeshis to Americans, hand in hand, heart to heart."
The Para Commando Brigade of Jalalabad Cantonment said that there is ongoing mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and the US in areas such as regional and global security, counterterrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance.
As part of this ongoing collaboration, Exercise Tiger Lightning, is being conducted with the aim of enhancing mutual cooperation, developing strategic joint operational capabilities, and strengthening overall preparedness.
At each stage of the exercise, participants engaged in various strategic and practical activities aimed at enhancing coordination, responsiveness, and mutual cooperation.
During the closing ceremony, every participant was awarded a certificate in recognition of successfully completing the exercise.
Additionally, each received an insignia as a memento of their participation.
Brigadier General Imrul Hasan, the head of the Bangladesh Army's Para Commando Brigade, delivered the opening remarks.
Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman, GOC of the 17th Infantry Division and Sylhet area commander, was another guest of the programme.
All commanders from the Sylhet region, senior officials from the Armed Forces Division, Army Headquarters, and various high-ranking military officers from the Sylhet region, as well as senior military officials from the United States Army, were present at the closing ceremony.
