Within a week of Chittagong Dry Dock Limited, an organisation under the control of the Bangladesh Navy, taking over operational management of the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) at the Chittagong Port, "significant progress" was observed in container handling activities, the CA's press wing said on Sunday.
Since the company took over on 7 July, the terminal recorded an average of 3,181 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) handled per day, compared to 2,956 TEUs in the previous week when the terminal was managed by Saif Powertec Limited.
This marks a daily increase of 225 TEUs per day, reflecting efficiency and progress.
Previously, the NCT terminal had been operated by Saif Powertec Limited. When its contract with the Chittagong Port expired on 6 July, the Ministry of Shipping approved the handover of operational responsibility to Chittagong Dry Dock Limited.
Between 7 July and 13 July, loading and unloading of containers from 10 vessels were completed successfully, and currently, four vessels are being handled simultaneously across the four berths of the NCT terminal.
