Bangladesh Police has launched an 11-day special security operation starting from July 29 to August 8, amid concerns over possible unrest during the anniversary of the historic July Uprising.
A directive issued by the Special Branch (SB) of Police on Monday states that the authorities have flagged the period from July 29 to August 8 as particularly sensitive, fearing that exiled fascist elements might attempt to incite violence or sabotage both online and offline to foil the observance of the first anniversary of the July Uprising.
Dhaka Stream has obtained a copy of the directive signed by the DIG.
In response, Police will intensify patrolling, vehicle checks, and surveillance in key areas including bus terminals, airports, and diplomatic zones.
Authorities will also conduct targeted raids, enforce arrest warrants, and step up cyber monitoring to prevent rumours and destabilising propaganda.
Citizens are urged to cooperate with police during this critical period.
