The water level of the Teesta river in Rangpur division is expected to rise over the next three days, and may flow near the warning level in Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat districts, the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said on Wednesday.
All major rivers across the country are currently flowing below the danger level. Meanwhile, the land depression located over southern Odisha, India has weakened into a low-pressure system.
Over the past 24 hours, no significant rainfall was recorded within the country. However, heavy rainfall occurred in India's Assam and Meghalaya states, read a FFWC press release.
Heavy rainfall is likely over the country's northern and eastern regions, as well as in the adjacent upstream areas, during the 72 hours from 9:00am on Wednesday.
The water levels of rivers in the Chattogram division including Feni, Muhuri, Selonia, Halda, Sangu, Matamuhuri, and the Noakhali and Rahmatkhali canals are expected to rise over the next three days, and may flow near the warning level. During this period, the low-lying areas of Feni, Chattogram, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Noakhali and Lakshmipur may experience temporary flooding.
The water level of rivers in Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions, including the Surma, Kushiyara, Sarigowain, Lubachra, Jadukata, Jhalukhali, Manu, Dhalai and Khowai are expected to rise over the next three days, and may flow near the warning level.
During this, the low-lying areas of Sylhet including Sunamganj, Moulvibazar and Habiganj may experience temporary flooding.
The water level of the Brahmaputra river may decrease in the next two days, and remain stable for the next three days while the water level of the Jamuna river is likely to decrease over the next three days, and remain stable in the next two days.
The water level of the Ganga-Padma rivers is expected to decline over the next five days.
