The next elected government will include the historical July Declaration in the schedules of the reformed constitution, Chief Advisor (CA) Muhammad Yunus said while reading out the July Declaration.
The declaration reaffirmed that "The people of Bangladesh express their desire that the student-people uprising of 2024 will get proper state and constitutional recognition and that the July declaration will feature in the schedule of the reformed constitution as framed by the government formed through the next national election".
As per the July Declaration he read out on Tuesday (5 August) at the Jatiya Sangshad premises, it was further informed that the declaration signified the July movement as a continuation of the historical struggles of the people of Bangladesh for independence, equality, human dignity and social justice.
Furthermore, it reassured the promise towards a democratic and exploitation-free Bangladesh which upholds the rule of law, human rights, and moral values.
It also announced the martyrs of the July uprising as national heroes and promised legal protection for them and other participants.
