Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain on Tuesday said that the Indo-Malaysian model could bring innovation in the country's Hajj management and reduce the cost.
"If their model could be tested and introduced in Bangladesh, pilgrims would be able to perform Hajj at a lower cost. It would also have a positive impact on the national economy," said the religious affairs adviser while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar titled "Easy Financing and Affordable Hajj Management" organised by the Bangladesh Hajj Academy at the Dhaka Officers' Club.
Khalid said that under the Indo-Malaysian model, people can go for Hajj at a fixed time through small savings. Since the cost of Hajj can be covered through such savings, even low-income people can go for Hajj.
"As a significant number of pilgrims in the two countries - Indonesia and Malaysia - are involved in the Hajj savings scheme, it also has a positive impact on their national economies," the religious affairs adviser added.
